Sunday, October 1, 2000

Approximately 160 people attended the Library Open House. The event was hosted by the Friends of the Raymond Library.

Entertaining the crowd was Dr. John Ingwerson, classical guitarist, and instructor at Hinds Community College. The adults as well as the children were enthralled.
Attracting the eyes of the chilren were the computers. Kee'on Bell is surfing the internet on one of the new computers available for library patrons. One of the "Wish List Items" to be purchased for the library by the Friends of the Raymond Library will be a computer for the children's section.
Margaret Bell, Head Librarian, and Rebecca Drake, President of Friends of the Raymond Library, help to greet the large crowd. Table arrangements were provided by Isla Tullos, Mayor of Raymond.
An honored guest was Mrs. Katherine Worrell from Learned. Mrs. Worrell is known and loved by everone in Hinds County. Her weekly column for the Hinds County Gazette has been a reader's favorite for over thirty years.
